So today was a “meh” kind of day. I was running late (as always) and skipped breakfast (as always). Instead of stopping for McDonald’s (my usual habit), I grabbed two cereal bars from the pantry – one for me, one for the kiddo. Good choice.
Well, kiddo loved his so much, he also ate mine, so no breakfast for me. (Totally worth it – he’s cute when he asks for another “strawberry breakfast.”)
But, when I got to the office, there were individually wrapped Godiva treats in the breakroom. I looked at the box and saw the serving size was 5 pieces. So I ate 5 pieces. Bad Calorie Count.
I was depressed today about a couple things and was feeling overwhelmed again so I texted Liz, one of my SOS partners (my lifelines for when I need accountability) and said, “I really want a cheeseburger. I have no interest in the leftovers I brought from home.” This is what she sent back:
“THIS IS YOUR YEAR!
YOU CAN DO THIS!
How about getting a grilled chicken sandwich from Chick-Fil-A? It will give you some of the satisfaction of a cheeseburger because it’s on a bun and has pickles and condiments, but it’s a lot healthier and a good portion. And a side of fruit or veggies. Or a salad with a low-fat dressing.
The chili lime vinaigrette is really good and only has 70 calories in the whole packet.
Their light Italian dressing is another low-cal option.”
And this is why she’s one of my SOS’s.
So I went to Chick-Fil-A and ordered the Cobb Salad. Good choice. Then I ordered the Ranch Dressing instead of the chili lime vinaigrette. And an extra 12-pack of nuggets. With Chick-Fil-A sauce. Bad Calorie Count.
For dinner tonight, I really really wanted to eat the Beef Braciola with loaded baked mashed potatoes with buttered rice pilaf and spaghetti sauce. But instead I ate leftover hibachi and raw carrots. Good choice. And then added 3 tbls of Yum Yum sauce on top of the hibachi. Bad Calorie Count.
On a plus note, I doubled my “required” steps today and drank all 96 oz of water, plus some. Good choice.
Good choice.
